Y I E N T A N

Before we get on to the main point, let me introduce myself to those of you who do not know. I am currently in my third year studying at Department of Advertising (for the first two years was actually under undeclared major in college of communication) at National Chengchi University, as known as 國立政治大學。

In my second year, I started to look for internship opportunities. I always wanted to apply for fashion magazine industry and I went for 2 interviews but they did not hire me at last. Until I saw the advertising department of Elle Taiwan, they are looking for interns too. I received their call right after I sent them my resume, and asked me to go for an interview (and welcome me to join them).

Great, everything went smoothly this time. I finally got my first internship, under the advertising department, at Elle Taiwan.

I like being alone.

I like drinking coffee alone, and reading alone.
I like riding the bus alone, and walking home alone.

It gives me time to think, and set my mind free.
I like eating alone, and listening to music alone.

But when i see a mother with her child, a girl with her lover, or a friend laughing with his or her best friend, i realise that even though i like being alone, i don't fancy being lonely.

This is my fav quotes ever. It's so true. Yes, i like being alone but i really don't fancy being lonely. Look, i always shop alone, movie alone, eat alone, read alone and jog alone. I enjoyed my personal space and time alone. It sets my mind free. But i love spending quality times with my favourite people. I mean, i don't think that being alone makes you lonely. It's having the wrong people as company. Loneliness is when you don't like your own company.

Being alone isn't a bad thing, it doesn't means that you are anti-social. Once you get comfortable with being alone, you will understand that you are good enough all by yourself, and you are a valuable person, also the more selective you become with who you invest your time in.

"Alone? It's ok, appreciate the silence."

Whenever people complained to me that they just had a really bad day or they are in a bad mood, i will just suggest them go to a movie alone or take themselves on date. You may be awkward at first, but just learn to be alone and enjoy it. You can create your own happiness and build your own confidence. And you will realise that whoooo the hellllll decided you weren't supposed to do those stuffs alone?

"Being alone" is a choice, a challenge. Bear in your mind, being alone does not mean being unhappy. You just need to learn to be alone without being lonely. Trust me, you will know yourself better and you will be stronger.
