TAIPEI: LIST OF HANGOUT SPOTS
I love exploring new hangout spots in every city I've visited. While I have not go back to Penang for nearly a year, I spent part of my time here by exploring new and interesting hangout places. Cafes, restaurants, exhibitions, historical places, painting or baking classes, whatever. (Read more at my previous post.)
In this post, I'm going to list out 10 cafes I've visited recently which some of them are my current go-to hangout places. If you are looking for some new places in town to hang with your friends, you are on the right page!
BRUN 不然
It's my second visit to Brun already. Everything is fine but the only downside is the crowd. I've waited outside for more than 30mins a few months ago at my first visit, and during my second visit which is past few weeks ago (it's a sunny weekday), there's no long queue outside but still crowded, almost every table is occupied. The food is good but I don't like going somewhere crowded, so I guess I won't be back for a while.

NU STUDIO
Don't get misunderstood. It looks like it's in Korea but in fact, it nested inside a small alley between old buildings at Yongji Road of Taipei. Founded by the owner of the clothing label @nu__hi, they have the showroom (by appointment) on the second floor. Perfect for some light meals, coffee, cakes, and conversations.

ANYWHERE TABLE
One of my favourite hangout places at the moment! I would rate 10/10 for both interior and exterior (also I wish to bring the Parisian inspired chair home hahaha). It is separated into a few sections which are the outdoor, the bar, 3 different areas that bring back some tropical and 50s retro vibes. I swear, you will be taking photos until the food arrives.

Business hour: Monday-Sunday 11:00-21:00
Minimum spend: NTD200 per person

SYRUPLESS 稍甜
Another cafe with Korean aesthetics. With the all-white interior as the theme, it looks fresh and has a good natural lighting which is great for taking photos. I ordered the earl grey crepe cake and guess what, it's the bomb!

Minimum spend: One beverage per person

A FABULES DAY
Fancy interior with a pink wall written: "Yeah, I know I'm Fabules." The choice on the menu is quite limited, but I swear I just had the best tie-guan-yin lava cake and cheese mashed potato sausage bun in my life, which is their signature!
Business hour: Monday-Sunday 10:00-22:00
Minimum spend: One beverage per person

CAFE' COABANA
Inspired by the Cuban, Cafe' Coabana has the most exotic vibes ever. With the orange wall, huge parasol, blue door, green plants, and the windy weather, we chose to sit outdoors and chill. Yes, I would pay for another visit too!
Business hour: Monday-Friday 11:00-21:00 / Saturday-Sunday 09:00-20:00 / Tuesday closed
Minimum spend: One meal or beverage per person

Omg, I swear I would like to have breakfast like this every morning. They provide breakfast ranging from burger, sandwich, omelet roll, coffee, milkshake, and fresh juice. All of them are handmade. Thumbs up for the yam+salted egg+chicken floss sandwich (芋泥鹹蛋黃肉鬆三明治), which is one of the best-sellers!
Business hour: Monday-Sunday 07:30-15:00
Minimum spend: NTD100 per person

DRUNK CAFE
I've been here thrice! Neon lights, fancy interior, Bali vibbin' exterior, and good food. I love their dinner menu more instead of the brunch menu, but I prefer to come at day time for outdoor photos. Or, if you are not into brunch, you can watch this place transform into a bar by nightfall.
Business hour: Monday-Sunday 10:00-17:00 / 18:00-00:00
Minimum spend: One beverage per person for the brunch session; NTD500 per person for dinner

DAY DAY HAPPY FOOD
Nested in the alley between the old buildings, it looks outstanding and brings back the major 60s retro vibes off. It's a Thai-style cuisine combined with both HongKong and Korean dishes. Opens at 12pm but there are people queueing outside already at 11am. Is the food really worth the wait? I personally think that the food is normal and I would rate it 7/10.
Business hour: Monday-Sunday 12:00-21:30
Minimum spend: None
